Lily or Willow?

Mostly Willow.

BtVS is a much, much, much greater thing than HIMYM.

Heck, American Pie was bigger than HIMYM, back in its days, so Alyson is also more Michelle than Lily, too.

And Willow is a much more epic and iconic character than Lily, too.

Willow had really huge character changes, from a gray geek in the beginning to a powerful lesbian witch in the end, over many changes in between. She even once was the big bad of the season. In the end she technically became the most powerful of the Scoobies, even more powerful than Buffy herself. She also got two of the longest romances of the show. She's a central and important character, the equal to Xander and only second to Buffy.

Lily is the most inactive of the five main characters on HIMYM. She doesnt even get interesting parents and siblings, like her husband. She only had one big conflict in the whole show, when she and her then-boyfriend-future-husband got separated for a while. She also always feels kind of out of place to me on that show, like she she doesnt really belong there, too attractive and too refined in acting for the rest of them.

From the viewers who have actually seen both shows, I think they will all remember her as Willow. But HIMYM is a more mainstream and a more watched show than BTVS, so more people may associate her with Lilly.

I saw the first six seasons of HIMYM before I saw BTVS. When I started season 1 of Buffy I thought "Hey look, it's Lily!" By the end of season two of BTVS however, I had completely forgotten about her role on HIMYM and now I always associate Alyson more with Willow. Willow is a better character and will be remembered far longer.

I think HIMYM is lame crap so I'd say Willow lol.

Well, I wouldnt go so far as calling it "lame crap".

Its entertaining enough to keep me watching. Thats more than I can say about a lot of other shows.

But she show just had a too long running time and its a very repetitive grind now.

I used to watch HIMYM and so I always saw her as Lily, but I've been watching BtVS for the first time and she'll probably always be Willow to me from here on out. Great, great character.
