I'm making a wild guess: the OP's logic is

(a) all these parts are young women
(b) all these parts look like Alison Hanigan

thus

(c) Alison Hannigan always does the same

IMHO Willow alone was at least two very different parts. The shy insecure geek in the beginning and the powerful lesbian witch in the end. With many nuances in between.

Vampire Willow was a third character altogether. .scary. Some people are incapable of paying attention to characterization.
