She's making me ashamed of liking How I met your mother

Actually I have to admit, I've really come to hate her annoying ass character. Far too exaggerated, and always getting involved in other peoples business...picking people for Ted, then deciding who's allowed in her dumb group photos. I used to like her, but God damn, she needs to change or she's going to become Monica (the freak controlling bitch from seasons 7-10)

The show hasnt really revolved around her as much since Season 3. That could be why the scriptwriters have just fitted her in whenever neccessary.
Season 1, her and Marshall were engaged and broke up, Season 2 continued to that and they got back together then got married. Season 3 was the credit card debt and buying a house and thats been pretty much it.
Shes gotten a fairly large amount of attention since then but the scriptwriters seem to focus on Barney and Robins thing in s4 and 5 as well as little subplots with Ted finding the mother.
Still love the show regardless...

Actually I think she's the rock on the show. She's the one that keeps the rest of the group grounded. Sure, Ted is the main character but Lily is the character everyone reverts to for permission or recognition. I think her character and portrayal is just fine.

I second you..... Lily is one character who has a control over all other characters in the show.. Plus she is amazing in emotional scenes..just watch her acting when had to break Marshal's dad's death news!!!

Despite the fact that it was an incredibly emotional scene and I just recently lost my own father, I seriously watched her breaking the news to Marshall at least 5 or 6 times because she was just amazing in it. I was bawling like a baby but it was almost refreshing and she must have been thinking of her own father passing or SOMETHING because wow.
