The stereotype that because she's beautiful, she can't act.
She's no Meryl Streep by any means, but she's a very capable, above average actress.
The amount of times I've heard her referred to as "The worst actress ever" is ridiculous.

I agree strongly with the OP's post. Also, I suspect that because Jessica's goodlooking, some of the roles she gets are less desirable. (Read: more stereotypical.)
It's like when Halle Berry argued with that producer (I think it was Lee Daniels) about the assumed limitations on pretty people and acting. She was responding to him like, "Pretty people can't do this? Why not?"

Going solely on her performances I have to say I feel her acting is very bad and your claims of criticism merely being about her being attractive are both naive and rather amusing. It smells of desperation trying to cite that as a reason, a very poor defence indeed and if thats the best you can come up with then its fair to say the amount of CANT ACT votes have a lot of truth behind them.
