Wasting her talent?

Shameless is very much utilising her talents, it's a great opportunity for her to show what a great actress she can truly be as she is playing a complex, deep and three dimensional character. There's a lot of emotional range in the part, Fiona is a character with many layers,there is a lot about her to explore both for the writers and for Emmy. There is an abundance of material for Emmy to work with, and as such the show should really allow her to shine.

I agree that so far Shameless has been the best work she's ever done. Her character is tough and strong but also very vulnerable and I think that comes across in her big scenes as well as in small moments. In other roles we've seen flashes of that range and ability but this is the first time we've really seen it develop. It's great because it's showing people who never thought she could act if they'd only seen her big budget studio films, that she's a gifted, dynamic actress. Hopefully it opens up more opportunity for her outside of the show as well, now that people see what she can do!

that's what happens hollywood has a knack for demeaning great potential and talent down to a commodity . She's good on the show shameless but she could do better.let's face it most of those payed for cable shows put all the best material within the first season to sell the show.Than faulter and struggle as the show progresses .It would be nice to see her in more challenging roles in movies perhaps.Shameless has second to 3rd rate actors on there who will never really go beyond cable tv shows .She seems like she would shine the most on stage as far as being in front of a camera shes not that great.She is incredibly attractive though

She does great work on SHAMELESS. I am just waiting for her to get back into the musical game. I also really like her single "Slow Me Down."... Part Enya, part undefinable.

Just a warning though, it's a very different style and direction from her first.

I think she is great on "Shameless", she is playing total opposite of her public persona. Heck, I've gotten so used to seeing her as the kinda dirty, working class Fiona that whenever I see her on the red carpet now I'm like "Wow she looks really put together for a change!" when just a few years ago I always expected her to be incredibly polished.

well OP, you started the thread, you give us some ideas what she should be doing instead of being on a funny/dramatic show where she carries (IMO) the whole show.

I am starting to believe that this Fuzzy fellow doesn't exist.
