What will happen to her if they cancel the show?

I suggest looking at Ms. Hargitay's filmography. She's been in far more than just SVU and Plain Truth, both on television and on the big screen. You not seeing the majority of her works is not the same as them not existing. Hargitay has also done some off-screen work. Meanwhile, her long-time standing on such a popular show gives her an edge in the future, when casting directors are looking for household names to star in their flicks. I disagree that she doesn't have a range of emotions in her acting. There have been several "Benson-centric" episodes which have helped her showcase this. The ones that immediately leap to mind are: when she went UC as a prison inmate, when she was searching for the man who raped her mother (her father), and when she was on the 911 phone call with the little abducted girl, and trying to find her. And those are just off the top of my head. I think if she chose to do so, she could go to the big screen. In the meantime, there doesn't seem to be an indicators of SVU going away any time soon. I believe it's been renewed for another season already, along with the original L&O and CI.
