Memories of Jayne Mansfield
Does Hargitay have any memory of the mother she lost at the tender age of three?

Studies have shown that people can remember as far back as age three but seldom before that. Just google it.
Excuse me for talking while you're interrupting.
I personally remember several things from when I was 3.
My mother had pneumonia and I pulled up a little chair and sat next to the bed because, even though I was only 3, I knew something bad was going on and I was very worried. I had to be pulled from the side of her bed to be put to bed or to eat because I didn't want to leave.
When I was 3, I also remember my mother being glued to TV and was very upset about something. At the time I did not know what it was. I recall her sitting in front of TV watching something that seemed to be repeated over and over and she was visibly upset.
When I got older, and saw footage of JFK assassination and his funeral, I realized *that* is what she was watching on TV and what she was very upset about.
My recollections at 3 years old were those that were serious or traumatic and involved my Mother.
I just saw Mariska interviewed on In The Actors Studio, she said she didn't have any memories about the car accident that took her Mother's life.
She may have blocked it out because it was so traumatic, but it's entirely possible she does remember something and doesn't want to have to talk about it. Which is completely understandable.
Are you daft? People absolutely can remember things at the age of three, on rare occassions, even under three. And no, their memories were not manipulated by pictures existing from the event or from older people relating the story. It's not a difficult concept. People often can and do recall true memories from before age four. I am one of them, and I can assure you some of the events have never been told to me, no photographs, and I recall feelings I had in perticular places, and I am not filling in the gaps based on my intellect now and understanding of events.
shareMy earliest memory is from when I was two. I had stitches in my tongue and I remember going to the hospital. Part of my remembering could be from what people have told me but that IS my earliest memory. (GFGI) Go *beep* Google It!
