I just realized he is half Italian. I assumed he is Latin American. His last name sounds more Spanish than Italian.
Also because he had to speak a lot of Spanish on Breaking Bad.

Yes he is half Italian and half black and born in Denmark!

Both the names Giancarlo and Esposito are Italian in origin.

Oddly enough, I am currently watching an old Law & Order in which both he and Jennifer Esposito guest star. They are not related but she - and the name Esposito - are most definitely Italian.

No way! Esposito is the most typical Neapolitan surname. If his name were Ciro it'd be the perfect cliché. ;-)
