Jack Adopted?

I read somewhere that Peter Cooke adopted Jack. If Jack's biological father is still alive, why would or did Peter adopt him?

It's possible that his real dad relinquished his rights to the child???

I'm just saying this because my brother adopted his daughter when he married her mom who had her from a previous relationship.

So sad....but in his case the bio father kept dissapointing my niece :((

Jacks bio dad had lied to Christie about a lot of things. She said she would pay his debts if he would sign away his parental rights to Jack. I think it's a pretty sad situation especially given that the bio dad already had a son, so Jack has a half brother on his dads side that he doesn't know.
