Original ‘Blade Runner’ Actor Says Cast Sat in Confused Silence After First Screening
share
Deceptive title. I read the short article and there is no mention of that happening. Maybe the title references comments M. Emmet Walsh made elsewhere.
Or maybe they weren't cast members at all who watched the first screening. Maybe they were "skinjobs".
Huh? They quote Walsh:
Calling it a “homer audience,” the 82-year-old Walsh said there typically is a lot of laughing and celebrating after a film ends. But Blade Runner was different.
“We all sat there and it ended. And nothing,” he said, laughing hysterically. “We didn’t know what to say or to think or do! We didn’t know what in the hell we had done! The only one who seemed to get it was Ridley.”
Yeah OK. I can just read it again. I guess I just skimmed it before. Yep, that's what he said. Oh well.
Wonderful actor. Have you ever seen Straight Time?
STRAIGHT TIME IS EXCEPTIONAL...EASILY MY FAVORITE WORK BY DUSTIN HOFFMAN.
shareLoved Straight Time. Walsh is suitably sleazy as the parole officer, but Dustin Hoffmans soft spoken Max exudes a quiet menace, like a coiled snake about to strike. Hoffman rarely did or does violent roles like this, but he was perfect here.
shareCOOL HAND LUKE IS MY FAVORITE FILM AND OBVIOUSLY MY FAVORITE OF PAUL NEWMAN'S WORK...STRAIGHT TIME IS LIKE HOFFMAN'S LUKE...AND I LOVE THE FILM FOR THAT.
shareHe was the one who was confused. Just projecting when he says the others were confused.
Most actors are pretty stupid, Blade Runner was just to complex for his puny brain.
I tend to agree with you. But it's almost a testament to the film that an old fart like him didn't get it. It makes me realize what an epic film was "Blade Runner".
shareEpic and dull.
shareBlade Runner was anything but dull.
shareYes, that's what the film's fans keep telling themselves.
shareYou must miss Bruce Willis.
