Nobody knew her career would eclipse his when they teamed up. What relevance has he had other than his 60's show,Diagnosis Murder,and Mary Poppins?

So that means we need to award everybody who has committed to volunteer/charitable work,and had a hit show. Btw, was MTM awarded due to her charitable work work? If not, then it sounds inconsistent. Should Tina Louise get a SAG award for doing the same?
Maybe Van Dyke should receive a medal from the governor or a humantarian prize, but this is SAG. Sorry, not impressed.
In addition, what screen work? He made one great picture MARY POPPINS, and the rest were duds. He made one good sitcom,and Diagnosis Murderer. I could say the same for many actors. I do not believe in honoring people just because they are 80 yrs old and been in show-biz for 50 yrs.
Why don't you voice your displeasure directly to SAG's National Honors and Tributes Committee? I'm sure they'll be happy to rescind the award once they hear your compelling logic.

This is common on many imdb boards,the distorted perception due to fan worship. Did you read the previous post about his feature-film duds? Those films ruined his feature-film career. Have you seen them? Quantity does not = quality.
Are you aware that Van Dyke ended up joining The Carol Burnett Show replacing Lyle Waggoner out of desperation, but left at a couple of months because he couldn't handle it?
MTM has 8 Emmys(not counting noms), an Oscar nom, many hit TV films, along with starring in what is considered two of the best sitcoms ever with her show more revered and Emmy-awarded,and owning the production company--and you ask me how her career eclipsed his.
I would toss around the word 'ridiculous' if I were you. Young,are you?
