His German...

Turturro is a great actor but I hope he never tries to speak German again. He did it once on Monk, appearing as the brother of the main character. He said that he translated a manual into German and then tried to tell where he made a failure on page 42. It was horrible. That was the worst imitation I've ever seen so far. And I've seen a lot of bad imitations.

I mean I understand that he doesn't need to speak German. But he actually should have tried to imitate a language that he is able to speak.

I don't want to offend any fans of him. He is a great actor and I like his appearances.

Was it the pronunciation that bothered you or was it just incorrect? Was curious because he wasn't pretending to be a native speaker, just a brilliant guy who speaks many languages. His character was, after all, a recluse so he probably learned German from books rather than talking to people. His grammar was probably excellent but my guess is he was just as socially retarded in German as in English.

By the way... Does he speak italian? I was wondering that since his father is italian.
