Hopper said on The Tonight Show that when Rip auditioned for a role in Easy Rider, they got into an arguement at a restaurant and Rip pulled a knife on Hopper. Rip said it was Hopper who pulled a knife on him and a few witnesses from the restaurant confirmed this. Rip won a $475,000 lawsuit and when Hopper appealed, the judge doubled the amount.
