Another one of those that are in many films, but few know his name.

This is another one of those actors that seems to be in so many films and shows, but not many people can recall his name.

I've always enjoyed his performance in everything I've seen him in, but until I was looking at something unrelated, I hadn't even paid attention really to who he was.

I should make a list, because I know I've said this about a lot of other actors as well.

He's one of the very few character actors I know by name because of the insanely dopey thing he did in the 1990s. He was dating Michelle Pfeiffer and cheated on her! If I looked like him and I were dating someone like her, that's the last thing I would do. After that, his career appeared DOA until he recently popped up in "Succession".

Interesting. Seems like a very bad decision on his part. But, we never know. Despite the physical disparity, there may have been a reason he wasn't happy with her.

His IMDb credits indicate that he had plenty of steady work 2000 - current, including 70+ credits and 48 episodes on a TV show.

He should have just broken up with her. She was good for his acting career since he was getting press and roles.

I haven't watched anything he's been in except Succession. I thought "There's Fisher Stevens! He's gray. I haven't seen him in years!" LOL!

Now that we've had this conversation, his name will likely stick with me as well.

I've noticed this same phenomenon with other actors, where I ran across them and thought, "oh, that's what his name is," only to promptly forget it again soon after.

I only knew Fisher Stevens name because of all the publicity when he dated Michelle Pfeiffer and a better memory when I was younger.

Charles Lane is another character actor. He had hundreds of roles. I only remembered his name after repeatedly looking it up until it finally stuck.

I mostly know him from the Columbo episode he was in. He also was on a TV show that was supposed to be based on my hometown, Key West, but I have never seen it.

'I mostly know him from the Columbo episode he was in.'

That's where I first saw him. I think he's great in that. It's one of my favourite Columbo episodes.

I took a look at his filmography, a lot of the recent stuff I've seen him in are Wes Anderson movies, where he seems to have very minor roles, then I see a few tv shows I recognize... then I got all the way down to 1981, he played Woodstock in The Burning! One of my favorite movies.

You're right. He's one of those guys who has been in a fair amount of shows and movies, but since he's often a minor character he doesn't get much attention.

I watched The Hollars (2016) the other day. It starred Margo Martindale and Richard Jenkins. I sort of recognized both of them and looked at their filmographies. I was surprised at how many movies/shows I'd seen that featured them.

Richard Jenkins is another good one. I'm adding him to my list.
