She bears a striking resemblance to Janice from The Muppets band Electric Mayhem.

Janice was named after Joplin and modeled after Mary Travers from Peter, Paul & Mary. I don't think they worked on her voice so much as her vocabulary which was made to sound modern/hip at the time. "For Sure." "Really?" Of course I have no idea what she has morphed into today
