If Nicole and Ron were black, the murder case would not have garnered intense media coverage.
Am I right?
shareAm I right?
shareNo, you're not.
shareCare to enlighten me then? Anytime an attractive young white girl goes missing or is murdered, the media goes stir crazy about it. Hell, there's even a term for it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missing_white_woman_syndrome
Yes, OJ was a celebrity, so even if Nicole and Ron were black, it would've still garnered media attention but not as fiercely as it did.
Wrong.
shareEnlighten me.
share"OJ was a major, major celebrity. He owned a mansion in Los Angeles, was the Hertz spokesman, broke records in college and the NFL, was even a decent actor who found fame in Hollywood (Towering Inferno, Capricorn One, Naked Gun), and was a broadcaster on major tevelised sports broadcasts."

And you are.
O.J. was a major sports figure and personality. Everyone knew The Juice from college, to the pros, to his post NFL career as an actor and TV personality. This would have just as big if it were (say) Terry Bradshaw that cut two people in half in a fit of jealous rage.
Turn if on it's head - if OJ was white, would it have garnered as intense a media coverage?
Absolutely. Imagine if, say, Tom Brady murdered Gisele. Imagine he runs from the police in his Tesla with Gronk behind the wheel.

Did his being black have anything to do with it? Perhaps to a few, and defnitely to the defense who used it to get him off, but the coverage as a whole was based purely on the absolute visciousness of the crime, where it happened, and the fame of the man who was accused.
Nah you’re trippin
Ellen DeGeneres is white and didn’t stab anybody, but apparently she’s mean and that’s the celebrity news story of the year. So think about it logically, any celebrity who murders two people will ignite a media firestorm, regardless of the race of the murderer or victim.
Disagree. He was still a former athlete. Look at the media attention of Aaron Hernandez. OJ's story became fascinating witht the car chase.
