Not that great in Naked Gun

O.J. never was really that great in the series:
Norberg is dense and never gets what the others are saying.
Ok we get it, he's stupid. Not that funny.

Couldn't he be at least athletic, or super fast, or strong? Or a murderer?

I don't understand why he picked that role, he could have tried something more fitting.

I never found him funny either, that he wasn't in the TV show didn’t help matters.

reply

i thought he killed it

I doubt anyone was knocking down his door with offers at this point in his Hollywood career. I don't even think he was doing Hertz commercials any longer.

Maybe he saw it as his Kareem Abdul Jabbar in Airplane! role to get him some exposure and attempt at comedy. I actually liked him in the second one a lot. "Nordberg? What's he doing in Detroit?"

reply

What? He was great in NG. One of THE funniest parts in the trilogy was his.

reply

Which one?

reply

When he investigates the criminal activity on that boat and walks in to be confronted by a large group of the bad guys armed and in the process of planning crime. They load him with about a pound of lead and he death-stumbles around, touches wet paint, falls into a cake, steps into a bear trap, etc.

I loved it when Drebin pushed him down the stairs. Yes that was really OJ Simpon going down the stairs. LOL

reply

He was an alright supporting character given how goofy the series was & to be fair, everyone was pretty dumb.

reply

You're absolutely right. In the first one. He didn't do anything. He just laid on that bed for most of the movie.

reply

He had some funny scenes in the first one though. The scene AnubisRaydeen mentioned. Plus it's funny when Frank unintentionally hurts him by making his bed go up and down. There's also the ending where he falls down the stairs in his wheelchair.
