Is your post serious, or are you being sarcastic...I literally cannot tell.
Assuming your post is not a joke, my answer to your question is: The police are NOT "continuing to try and find him [the killer]" because they believed OJ to be the actual killer. The police conducted an investigation and turned over evidence to the District Attorney, who believed that all the evidence pointed to OJ as the perpetrator of the murders.
A finding of "not guilty" by a jury doesn't necessarily mean that the people on the jury believed someone else committed the crime. It means they didn't feel the state met its burden, which was to prove that Simpson did it "beyond a reasonable doubt."
Go out and read "If I Did It," written by Simpson himself. The book is a confession, although a weak one. SPOILER: He basically says that he went to Nicole's house, was full of rage, enough to kill her AND the man he thought she was sleeping with, but that he suffered some sort of dissociation, and doesn't actually remember doing the murders.
I followed the case closely when it was going on, and I believe he did it. I also believe he was likely under the influence of drugs, but it really makes no difference. He's a scary person; someone seemingly without a conscience. The crimes for which he is currently sitting in prison for pretty much confirm that: in his mind, he was perfectly justified in breaking into someone's hotel room, threatening them with a gun, and committing theft (since he believed he had a right to the items stolen.)
Prison is exactly where Mr. Simpson belongs...he is a danger to others, imo.
