Did Hardy do a Rufie impersonation for Tinker Tailor?

I swear, Tom Hardy sounded just like him in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, and from what I've heard of him elsewhere, he doesn't sound much like Rufus.

Anyone else get the same impression?

Finally, someone else notices! Thanks.

Guess we'll never know if it was an uncanny coincidence or deliberate impersonation. Wish someone would ask him, though.

reply

Wow! He definitely does!
I've been a Rufus fan for awhile, and am a newly devoted Hardy fan since TDKR, and though I hadn't seen/heard him in Tinker Tailor yet, I had noticed a similarity in the tone of his and Rufus's voices.
Tom's flat out amazing at changing his voice, accent, dialect for various roles. Hard to believe that the voice in that clip belongs to the guy in this clip:

But yeah. Uncanny.

I can tell you're a fan of Rufie's from your username, lol! (I love Nick Silver so much, I take him around with me on my iPod!)

Anyway, yeah, the similarities are uncanny, right down to the unmistakable Rufie cadence and voice cracks.

reply

Oh yeah. Forgot about my username. Guess that does give me away, LOL.

I'd love for Tom and Rufus to work together. Love them both.

Sounds like a great idea to me (just as long as they don't sound like one is impersonating the other ;o))
