She got the ole "difficult" label. I read an interview with her a while ago where she admitted that the Oscar went to her head. She thought she was now in the league of Meryl Streep and Jessica Lange and stuff but she wasn't. She demanded lead roles that didn't come. Clashed with lots of people. About 10 years ago my friend was in a lowly lifetime film with her. She wouldn't even stay to film the other people's coverage. She'd do her scenes and then leave and they'd have to act off an assistant director or some crew member.

Bad attitude.

Your gossip posts have reached an embarrassing new low! Let’s quote an anonymous source who says their friend acted in a Lifetime movie with Ruehl who was so horrible that she only remained on set to film her scenes… that’s not stretching credibility at all, is it? Almost as good as a friend of my friend’s second cousin said this woman was a bitch… who could argue with that?!

Mercedes Ruehl won for Best Supporting Actress in 1991’s “The Fisher King,” starring Robin Williams. She then did a few supporting roles, in “Lost In Yonkers,” and “Last Action Hero,” then poof! Gone. A character actress with a very niche product—hard to keep peddling it around. It’s hard enough for the big stars.

Not staying there for others' lines is what most leads in shows do. If people were not getting hired because of that, there would a lot more actors not working.

I think there are reasons other than that.
