shareHear, hear!
The lion and the calf shall lie down together, but the calf won't get much sleep.
She should have been nominated in the lead category that year for The Crying Game--she may not have had as much screen time as Emma Thompson did in Howard's End, but her villain character dominated the film in short time the same way Anthony Hopkins did in The Silence of the Lambs the year before.

personally that year i give her the win for "damage" in best supporting actress and thought her performances in "the crying game" and "enchanted april" were both worthy of nominations in lead.
"they should give nicole kidman an oscar for being able to show any emotion after THAT much botox".
I thought Sweet As You Are deserved something, that was a mesmerising performance!

How and why she didn't win that freakin' oscar in 1993 is beyond my comprehension!Marisa Tomei for MY COUSIN VINNY???Please, you gotta be kidding!
I've said it before on these boards, but it bears repeating: If a total non-actress like Kim Basinger can win the Oscar (over Julianne Moore in "Boogie Nights" for fux sake), then the awards are a complete travesty and cannot be taken seriously. (I won't even mention the absurdity of Bette Davis not winning one for "All About Eve.")
I completely agree about Boogie Nights, was she even nominated? I really don't understand how Miranda has not won an award yet, she's had so many PERFECT performances!

Yes, she was nominated.
