A running gag on ''Benny Hill''

On "The Benny Hill Show", they would often do skits where an actress would make a mistake while filming something. After the mistake, the director would say something like "I told you that we should have got Charlotte Rampling!" Does anyone know why they picked Rampling's name in particular? From what I had seen of her work, she was a fairly good actress.

Annoying the world since 1960!

It's perhaps because she had a reputation for sexiness. I just saw her in Georgy Girl, and in the 1960s Charlotte was just a stunner -- she had all the great clothes and amazing hairstyles. I think "free spirit" also figures in the equation.

She was epic in that film, cold, steely, gorgeous

She was still stunning throughout the 70s in movies like "Orca" (1977).
