Robert Patrick as Stephen King's Gunslinger

I am certain Robert Patrick as Roland in a film version of the Dark Tower books would be the greatest casting decision of the decade. I'm begging you Mr Patrick, campaign for this role! It is your Destiny!

Although he would be a great choice, he is a bit old for the role now. I always saw Michael Wincott in the role.

Hmm maybe not that old...Roland is in his 40s no? We'll he's described as such..

SawGangster Squad recently, and thought - he would fit. Robert Patrick is just Awesome.

I always pictured Sam Elliot but to me all of King's works that end up as movies work best with unknowns or at the least ones who aren't widely known. I always thought Muse Watson would be good.

As far as age, makeup and effects do wonders these days. We are never told Roland's true age and he is often described as ageless. I don't want to say too much if you haven't read all of the Dark Tower books and plan to, but by the end it is strongly implied that Roland may be hundreds, or even thousands, of years old.
