His acting isn't the problem
It's his voice, he has a really high pitched voice and sounds like a girl when he screams. He's actually pretty good at showing emotions, his voice is his downfall though.

shareYeah I forgot: EVERY man on this planet has to have some deep macho man voice like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone. Is it so bad if someone has a soft voice? My voice sounds like that when I scream too.

No it's not. It depends on the role and what kind of character the "man" is playing. It was fine when he was Spiderman because Spiderman is a teen and has a soft voice. So his high pitched scream was tolerable in that.
However the same high pitched scream in Brothers was really distracting. It's almost like the sound of a girl crying. It was meant to be serious but it just took me out of the scene.
My voice sounds like that when I scream too.
For your sake I hope people take you seriously when you cry or scream with that high pitched voice.
Oh yeah that hurt. Ooh! REALLY hurts. As a matter of fact, they don't really seem to care whether or not my voice breaks when I scream.

That is quite unfortunate. I'm very lucky that I have a deep manly voice.
Girlyman.
Agreed, the cracking voice worked when he was still playing teenagers, but a 40 year old man should have found his voice by now. Leonardo Dicaprio also has the same problem. I always feel like I'm watching a boy play a man's role.
shareYou a Lil b1tch that's why. In Sparta they would have dropped you off a cliff.
shareSimilar to how your mother dropped you as a child?
shareHe is a character actor so his voice does not really matter
