Highly undercredited

"Hello Again" is on TV right now and it struck me within just a few minutes of watching that Shelley Long is perhaps one of the funniest actors ever. What would Cheers have been without her as Diane? Her comedy probably would be better appreciated if she wasn't so darn good at it. I'm going to get back to the movie now, but I hope to see Ms. Long in more movies in the future.

I love Shelley Long too, and too believe that she is highly undercredited. I grew up with her movies and she has been one of my favourite comedy actresses for a long time.

Yeah, but so what? Everybody's weird

Yea, but everyone on the set hated her. She was behaving like a real diva. Nobody there wanted to talk to her between scences. This is true, im not just talking bull

"Peter, you are drunk!"
"No, I'm just exhausted from all the beer I have been drinking"

...I’ve read that about her, but don’t believe it one bit... I’ve seen TV interviews with several people who have worked with her, and I’ve heard nothing but good about her... TV interviews seem more reliable to me than written words from an unknown source.

I didnt see it in writing, the other castmembers said that she was hard to work with when they interviewed them. The actually castmembers of cheers said those words. So it is the truth.
She complained about everything, when everyone else was ready for the scene she was always the one to come in last. She was very hard to work with in the end

"Peter, you are drunk again"
"No, I'm just exhausted because I've been up all night drinking"

Hmmm... I didn't know that she didn't get along with Rhea Perlman. Makes sense, though.

Yes, she is certainly a very good, intelligent and funny actress. I liked her very much as Diane Chambers in Cheers. She made the show a hit, along with Ted Danson. And I liked her alot in "Irreconcilable Differences". She's quite a versatile actress. I'm very sorry for what happened to her, if indeed it was a suicide attempt.

I heard the group at Cheers were not very kind to her at all. In the last episode, they wouldn't talk to her or anything....they treated her like "nothing". I couldn't believe that....there's just no excuse for that kind of behavior. It was so unkind. Even if she may have acted "diva-like" or whatever, that's still no excuse to treat another cast member in that way. She contributed alot to the show, they should have respected her as a co-worker.

It just shows what immature jerks they all were. I think they drove her away from the show. But I always found a core of genuineness, honesty and integrity in Shelley, no matter what her role was. She was the "light" of the show, "Cheers" and from what I heard, a consummate professional in her art. I missed her alot when she left the show. If she had problems with the cast, it ws probably due to misunderstandings. She had a particular way of working...she liked to ask questions. She took her role seriously. That's how real professionals know how to work...they have to ask questions and learn. Apparently, the other cast members didn't like that about her. That's too bad....that's how grown ups work. In college, we are always encouraged to ask questions.

Shelley, I like you and think you are a fine human being. I hope you get well soon, and I'll be praying for you. :)
