NOT British

I always thought John Lithgow was British and that whenever I heard him speaking in an American accent he was putting it on.

I only found out today that he isn't British at all.

I care.

I've had similar experiences with celebs, I was a big fan of Christian Bale circa '01-02, and had no idea he was Welsh and found out when I saw this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDPuzOq_tbA interview. I was mildly amused when I heard him using his American accent when doing a later interview for Batman Begins. I believe he adopted the habit and used it solely for American television, in order to avoid alienating American audiences. Believing they'd see a "British" actor playing Batman and find some fault with it. I've Always wondered if that was his personal choice, or something the studio asked him to do.

Anyways, I too love trivia about film/actors, so pay no mind to captain Asperger up there.
