Amazing In Dexter

I'm sure everyone has heard how amazing he was on Dexter, but I finally finished watching the fourth season for the first time today. He was fantastic in it. For some odd reason I was expecting the same evil bastard we saw in Cliffhanger or Blow Out, but this was something much different.

The way he conveyed his characters tortured and demented emotions was literally jaw-dropping. He was that damn good. One of Lithgow's best performances, if not best.

He honestly made Hannibal Lector look like a sour puss.

I love Dexter and I too just finished watching season 4 today. John Lithgow was *beep* fantastic. I have liked all the antagonists, really, but he took the cake. The Thanksgiving episode literally gave me chills which doesn't often happen. It was so eerie to watch how broken his family was and how monstrously John's character treated them. I even give props to the actor and actresses who played his family, the way his daughter tried to jump Dexter's bones to get out of her dad's grips was so painful to watch because it showed just how twisted Arthur was. And then right after that he gave another powerhouse performance while he had the little boy.

The writing and direction on Dexter is already fantastic but John Lithgow made it that much better. I'm so proud that he was born in Rochester, where I grew up!

I honestly didn't know he had that kind of acting ability in his locker.

He was absolutely phenominal!

I agree, he was amazing. After that performance i would say he is one of the most talent actors, and deserved that award he got

I totally understand when you say he gave you the chills, because it happened to me too (and I am sure we were not the only ones)! It was a long time ago since a TV character made me scared. His way of saying "Hello, Dexter Morgan" at the end of the 11th episode, what a delivery of cold, evil craziness. Before seeing Lithgow in Dexter, I used to think he was a good actor, but for some reason I really didn't care much about him. Now, I do appreciate him in a very different light.
