20 Years After 9/11: Remembering the Left’s Unhinged Reaction

Twenty years after the devastating terror attacks of September 11, let’s not forget how left-wingers in the news media and Hollywood have reacted by blaming America, trashing the War on Terror, and pushing insane conspiracy theories that the United States itself had staged the attacks or was somehow protecting Osama bin Laden.

In the months and years after those horrible images of the Twin Towers collapsing in a cloud of dust, smug liberals have denigrated our military as a “fighting tool of American imperialism” and sneered that “human rights around the world have been a casualty of the U.S. ‘war on terror.’” They’ve claimed that the dead of 9/11 were “used to sanctify the state’s lust for war,” and lectured that “radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam.”

Lest anyone forget, here are 20 quotes showing the Left’s often unhinged reaction in the days, months and years after the attacks, plus a video of the worst televised comments from our archives:

■ “I despise him [President George W. Bush]. I despise his administration and everything they stand for....There has to be a movement now to really oppose what he is proposing because it’s unconstitutional, it’s immoral and basically illegal....It is an embarrassing time to be an American. It really is. It’s humiliating.”
— Actress Jessica Lange at a September 25, 2002 press conference at an international film festival in San Sebastian, Spain where she was given a lifetime achievement award. Her remarks were shown in the U.S. on the syndicated show Inside Edition on October 4, 2002.

The attacks on the US were humiliating.

And US citizens have thousands of reasons, the same number of victims of that day, to condemn the administration that failed to heed the intelligence and contrived to allow such things to happen.

And they have hundreds of thousands, in fact millions of reasons, one for each casualty, to condemn the "war on terror" and the falsified intelligence (which is against the law by the way) that was used to justify the hastily underprepared and illegitimate invasion (unconstitutional) of Iraq which found no trace whatsoever of any viable WMDs, let alone a program of weapons that Hussein was allegedly able to deploy against foreign targets in 45 minutes.

If you are a US citizen and you think that the administration responsible at the time for keeping Americans safe should not have come into harsh criticism then you are clearly completely unhinged. You should be embarrassed for defending the administration from the consequences of failing their responsibilities just so you can say "it's the left".
