Proudest of which film?

I've heard Jessica publicly say that she does not watch her completed movies, but which one do you suppose she is most proud, and on the flip side, which does she regret the most?

In MY opinion, I'd nominate

FRANCES - best
BONNEVILLE - worst

I read long ago that she refuses to talk about EVERYONE'S ALL-AMERICAN, but she's had a few duds since then ...

I thought she once said in an interview that Tootsie was the film she was proudest of. As for which film she regrets most I honestly couldn't say. Everyone loves to razz on Hush but Jessica was fabulous in it. For some reason it reminded me a bit of Die, Die My Darling! starring Tallulah Bankhead and Stefanie Powers. Admittedly, it wasn't a perfect film, but Tallulah was divine in it; her performance alone more than compensated for the films imperfections, and I feel the same way about Jessica's performance in Hush.

Same here. The film left much to be desired even as a simple thriller, but Lange gave us quite a complex, multi faceted character to enjoy and ponder for years. The same could be said for A Thousand Acres. Really poorly put together film but Lange (and Pfeiffer, Robards) gave Oscar worthy performances.
To me, Frances is her magnum opus. However, I do find Music Box to be my personal favorite.
My least fave: Country. I'm sorry, I just can't bother with that film.

What did you think of Lange's performance in "Country"?

For me, I thought that her performance was strong in COUNTRY, although I did not really enjoy the film overall. It was just too much of a downer from what I recall. I haven't seen it since its theatrical release back in the 80's.

I haven't seen "Die, Die My Darling," but I must admit that HUSH is a guilty pleasure. I didn't think it was all that bad. I even saw the version with the original ending. I kick myself for returning the VHS screening copy long ago. IMO, the original ending was far superior. In it, Jess's character dies in a barn blaze.

Dimsung, I thought it was good, no more no less. It was a weak year for actresses that year otherwise she wouldn't have earned her Oscar nomination imo. I don't know maybe in comparison to her level of greatness that we'd seen it doesn't even come close (hell she gave better, memorable character performances in such duds as Hush, A Thousand Acres and Cousin Bette), so to me Country was not one of her greats.
