Does she ever play just an ordinary people? Instead of someone who screams, lashes out, goes nuts or is cold?

Absolutely, check out Tootsie (1984). Her performance and interpretation of Julie was sensitive, thoughtful, and delicate, bubbling with sensuality, truly unforgettable.
