She should play Nina Simone

I heard some Mary J. Blige and I remembered how she was attached to play Nina Simone in a bio-pic of her and I was thinking that she'd be okay, but Marianne Jean-Baptiste would be a great choice.

I know I wrote that on the biopic board. She looks like her clone and is a brilliant actrss.
But I guess no one could ever fully play Nina, and I would hate to see some schmaltzy imitation like 'Ray', but we shall see.

I knew I liked Marianne Jean-Baptiste the first time I saw the show- Without A Trace-(Which, I'm hooked on)- I'm partial to suspense, thriller, crime & courtroom drama, CSI & Law & Order kinda stuff... and then there's SciFi, etc...Anyways, Marianne always just seemed comfortable and familiar to me- Now I know why!!!
Nina Simone has been part of my life for 15+ years and I have read books about her life ,seen vintage films, concerts & interviews. From back in the day to later years. Besides her being a big part of the soundtrack to my life- she is a mood- like music- that is always there. Anyways, Not only does Marrianne have her look, as well as a reminder of her demeaner and tone of voice... she's just a rhythm, I suppose. Anyways -sorry for the drunk posting and rambling on... but I'm watching the show now and I happened to look her up for the 1st time and this is what I found! Long story Short-
Kudos- I agree!
Thank You for reading me write all this & for also, unlocking the door to part of my undeniable interest in this incredibly talented actress.

I agree that she will make a good Nina Simone. Looks and singing ability alone can guarantee that.

Speaking of singing, does anyone know if she released a solo album? I have the soundtrack of Mike Leigh's "Career Girls" where she and Tony Remy did some musical scoring. She did very minimal singing in that soundtrack but I thought she sounded so good, she must release an album of her own. Does anyone know?

Marianne would be amazing as Simone; the resemblance is strong. She's a great actress.
