shareWhy don't you see what the Tolkien Estate has to say about it?
shareHe has made it clear he is done with Middle Earth movies. He wants to get away from Hollywood and do pictures in New Zealand based on New Zealand stories by New Zealand writers. He didn't even want to do the Hobbit films, and says that was five years taken out of his life and now he wants to move on.
Fom the New Zealand Herald:
Can Jackson, who turns 52 at the end of the month, see his way forward after finishing the five or so years he's spent on The Hobbit trilogy?
"We have got a few bits and pieces that we are working on, Fran and I. The things that we are most excited about are some New Zealand stories. We just want to step off the Hollywood blockbuster thing for a while and we've had a few New Zealand stories in line for a while that we think would make great films. The Heavenly Creatures mode really.
"But one thing has led to another and we have never had time. We've made a conscious decision that in the limited years we have left to make movies to tell some New Zealand stories."
"In some respects in terms of my remaining film-making career this was a five-year chunk that was kind of taken out of it unexpectedly
No Silmarillion in the offing. Besides, it's still under copyright, and will be for a long time.
Id want to get back to New Zealand too and hide my face after tha garbage. damn the hobbit was soo bad.. its like he slept with a really ugly lady and now wants to wallow alone. i get it

There's nothing wrong with that quote about those five years, that were "kind of taken out of it unexpectedly". I just want to add something else, that he has said about making the Hobbit movies:
"This was the most fun I ever had making a film."

Yes, if you read the whole NZ Herald article, Jackson goes on to say that because he had to put aside his own plans, reluctantly -- because he had never wanted to be the director of the Hobbit films -- he decided to make the most of the situation and "have fun," which in the other interview he says he successfully did.
It's the philosophy, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." Good for him.
I'm so tired of IMDB whiners and wannabe critics that I could puke.
shareWhy don't you get off your fat ass and make a movie if your so critical.
shareHe has made it clear he is done with Middle Earth movies.
He said the same thing after the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Then The Lovely Bones was a huge flop and he went running back to the only thing he knew would be a guaranteed hit.
This is a guy who started out making movies about zombie babies and puppet porn; he's out of his league among the Hollywood elite. When his next movie flops he'll go running back to Tolkien to milk his cash cow for all it's worth.
