I can't believe some people moaned about these films. the only real problem i had with them was some of the action particularly involving Legolas was cartoonish and ott but apart from that they were very well done.

Jackson took a kids book and made it more epic and grown up. the acting was great,the music was great, the special effects were great,it wasn't too long [i didn't want it to finish] and it was funny in parts without being ott. The only real problem i had with it was some of the action scenes mainly with Legolas and the stone giants scene where nobody miraculously fell off the mountain or got crushed by the giant rocks.
So just what was wrong with it?

There was nothing wrong with it :) Many people wanted that these movies were also great like the lord of the rings movies.. And there high expectations "killed" there mood..
There is just one thing that failed (in my eyes).. He should used real life person with masks for the orcs (orks) like he did in LOTR.
But thats my opinion ;)

Maybe they were trying to recapture the glory of Lotr but it seems to be the standard thing to say by some people that they were overlong and bloated ......but they're not. And it wasn't just the Hobbit story they included other aspects of Middle Earth. i didn't find them dragging at all.
