Cromwell

Does anyone have any information on why this Limerick man agreed to play Oliver Cromwell? I was too young when the movie came out to remember any interviews iwth him.

Sorry mate,im a year late hehe, but im part irish, and my dad said he got loads of *beep* from people in ireland forr it,but he wanted to do a part that really challenged him,and made people think of him differntly then they did before,he was also apparently fasinated by the man and the myth.

Did they ever show them anywhere?,id love to see them so many different accounts of what he did in drogeda and other places,i believe he did it on purpose, but once a city refuses to surrender, then thats the risk they took back then,Id love to see a DVD release with them back in,or as extras.

Im sorry mate i dont agree with that statement at all,he did what he did to prove a point,he had all his enemys in the bag,and had them killed simple as that,i guess them refusing to surrender the city, gave him and his men the right to slaughter everyone, but they went far to far,and it made resistence in other citys far harder,in one(cant remember the name),the new model army lost hundreds of men trying to storm the town. But they were brutal times,no CNN or BBC reporters getting in the way,so they were free to do what ever they wanted to.
