Gambon and Harris- neither suitable as Dumbledore

I know Harris is dead, however, I am a huge fan of the novels and neither one of them is/ was any good as Dumbledore. Harris was too "old", he wasn't the congenial, fun side of him, and Gambon is too strict, Dumbledore wasn't like that, neither of them is right, Attenborough would have been better.

I have to agree, Richard Harris was a fantastic actor but the way he played Dumbledore was far too serious, he seemed very much like a grandfather when he shouldn't really be noticable, other than physically. I prefer Michael Gambon because there are, at least, glimpses of a more fun side to him, I still agree he plays the character far too strictly.

I ain't jumping on the bandwagon. I am the f/uc\kin' bandwagon!

nah, i reckon that richard harris portrayed dumbledor perfectley. but that's just my opinion.

I totally agree... Harris did dumbledore perfectly, but that other guy is yelling at harry: dumbeldore never yelled. He did a perfect dumbeldore, old and wise and knowing everything. They should of replaced him with gandolf off of LOTR, he would of done a good job too, but they already ruined my view of harry potter. I don't like the movies anymore , just the books

i'm sorry, but i cant see Richard dueling with Voldemort. he played Dumbledore too nice and smart, not enough strength, but i miss him as dumbledore.

That I have to agree with. I can't picture Richard as Dumbledore dueling Voldemort either. He just... I dunno. I really liked Harries though, but when it comes to more active scenes like in ootp Gambon (?) does it well, but I can't see Harris do it

Well whether you could picture him doing it or not, i think he probably could. The man was a human bull acting a gentle old man. He showed he could shout and move as well as still remain 100% dumbledore in the troll scene in no1

I somewhat agree with this. I can't stand Gambdon there is no sign of the character Dumbledore in him at all. Harris I think would have been perfect a bit younger or even with a bit more energy.
