Deserves Oscar nod for the Mist

She totally sells that character the whole way, including the contradictory actions of such a religious woman spouting vile and cries for murder.

She deserves recognition.

I agree, she was the best and most loathsome character portrayed in the film. Ms. Harden played it to perfection. Even though the story called for a much different woman, Marcia Gay Harden made the insane Mrs. Carmody her own character and she really did a fantastic job. I will not be surprised in the slightest if she is nominated for or wins best supporting actress.

I agree too

What I love about her performance in THE MIST is that she plays an over-the-top
character believably, without taking an over-the-top approach as an actor, if that makes sense. She manages to keep the character's behavior outrageous, but plausible, and there's not a lot of actors who can pull that off. I don't think she has a chance for the Oscar, because we all know the Academy doesn't usually appreciate horror movie performances, which is a shame, because this was a multi-layered, complex role which definitely deserves recognition.

i agree 100%
I've never bought a character played so over the top like this
she made that Woman believable down to the Tee , and for a minute I forgot I was watching Marcia (the last move I remember I saw her in was SPY HARD when i was little lol) She's great,

I just came on here to say the same exact thing: this woman definitely deserves an Oscar nomination. She gave a PHENOMENAL PERFORMANCE in The Mist.
