It should have read "boarding" school, most rich parents sent their kids off to go to school in a different city. From what I remember, he was pushed two stories down and broke his neck. He nor his family was ever told by the doctors and he didn't find out till x-rays many decades later after a motorcycle accident. I hope I paraphrased correctly, I read his book a while ago.

I just finished Peter Fonda's autobiography 'Don't Tell Dad' and you correctly related the information as he provided it. I'll add that he believes the school never notified his family of the 'accident' because they were afraid of negative repercussions.
