I have a consulting client named James Foley.... I wonder if it's the same guy?

He's the brother of Matt Foley...but I don't think James lives in a van down by the river.

I met a writer in 1982 or so at a dude ranch in Wyoming who was doing research on the movie, "Horses" named Jamie Foley.

Why does *beep* have to swear?
Why can't you just ask normaly, like: Who is this person/ director?...
Swearing comes through as frustration or anger. Sort it out.
And to answer the question: James Foley directed the David Mamet masterpiece Glengary Glen Ross.
