One of my favourites.

Instantly becasme a fan after seeing Embeth in Army Of Darkness, mainly because she fits "The Description" - dark hair and dark eyes.

But after seeing her in a few more films, I realized there is a formidable talent behind her delicate features. She was great in a purely expositional part in Fallen, giving a fine performance when she was really only there to explain story background. A heartbreaking turn in Schindler's List. And let's not forget my favourite Embeth role, as the dreamy Miss Honey in Matilda. I don't think there would be many people who wouldn't have loved to have had a teacher like her!

I look forward to more Embeth stuff in future, though I hope she gains some weight. She looked horribly gaunt in Bridget Jones's Diary.

hi. I agree with what you are saying, I have not seen her in Army of darkness but I thought that her performances in Matilda and Bicentennial Man were very good. she seems a very talented actress that could fit into any genre. I hope that she pull's off one performance that will earn her either a nomination for or win an acadamey award.

I was lured by the sound of her voice when I really, truly sat and watched "Bicentennial Man" for the first time this year.

"Army of Darkness" was my first exposure to her but I was distracted by Bruce Campbell's character ;) and she was just the 'love interest/damsel in distress'.

I remember her from "Schindler's List" and didn't realize she was in "Mansfield Park" (I've had the DVD in my collection for a few years but that time I was distracted by Alessandro Nivola's trousers...).

But after seeing "Bicentennial Man" I went out and bought "Matilda", "Schindler's List", "Junebug" and then "Scrubs" (but a few seasons - coz it's a friggin hilarious show).

I do agree that she does look very fragile... which is why I LOVED her brief character in "Scrubs":
"We were going to go to the gym but I could just as easily throw up instead."

Maybe she stresses in real life and pecks at a stick of celery all day. Idunno.

I don't care much about her looks... I love the sound of her voice.. it's soothing to me.

"They're all mistakes, children. Glad I never was one."
