I was told that the reason so many of his characters are named Tony, especially in series work, is that he has trouble paying attention on the set. (A.D.D. Maybe??) So they named his characters to ensure he responds. Can anyone confirm?
shareI don't know about Tony specifically, but I always assumed the same thing about Charlie Sheen. Also, there is precedent for this sort of thing.
shareJust learned that on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Jenny Calendar was originally supposed to be Nikki. Trouble is Nicholas Brendan goes by Nicky so every time they addressed her character he would turn to see who was talking. Guess it's the same idea in reverse.
