the history so far:

I scanned it from IMAGENES magazine, a spanish publication that released the image in april 1998 when the movie was released in cinemas there as part of their Scarem Girls article also featuring Jada Pinkett and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

A significantly altered photograph from this same shoot was used as one of the three deluxe edition covers of Scream VHS when released in december 8th 1997 http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x179/tjdufresne/IMG_2497.jpg, you wouldn't be able to tell from that photograph but unused artwork shows the larger picture where you can tell: hair, make up and costume are the same (here: http://ilarge.lisimg.com/image/7439060/968full-scream-poster.jpg)

additionally Courteney is wearing the same ring Drew Barrymore wore during most of the promo shoots for Scream (namely here: http://40.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mb0nvra1ZZ1r9nc53o1_1280.jpg)

the filming of Scream happedned between april 15th and june 8th, 1996 so I'm placing the shoot somewhere between that time and no later than july or august. the season finale for friends (aired may 16th) saw Courteney with darker hair and bangs and by the time season 3 aired in september 16 the bangs were gone.

if anyone can provide any information or additional images from the shoot I'd appreciate it.

They shot the magazine pictures at the time of the movie(96)for the movie scream1 , then the magazine only realesed it to also promote the movie in 1998(to promote 1998 scream2) ,that's why she is with the same hair.I'm not sure but i think this is it.

about the bangs it can be a wig or something,she used a terrible wig on scream 3 .
