shareCaptain Courageous (1937) is a start i think. it's also a his favorite film that he did well his 2nd really, his first was "Bluebeard" from (1944) that's a good one as well. buuut ayuh BOTH are on dvd. & even though i think the movie "The howling" is well *beep* he's in that as well. i'm sure U've seen that one. MOST people for some unkown reason LOVE that movie. so there's 3 to start with man.
shareHi ! I'm a great John Caradine fan. seen him in many great movies, and also seen good perfomances from him in not so great films.
The House of Seven Corpses (1973), directed by Paul Harrison, is a decent horror movie, starring John Ireland, Faith Domergue and John Carradine.
The Last Tycoon (1976), directed by Elia Kazan, contains a wonderful part from John Carradine, as he plays a guide in a Hollywood studio, telling a group of young visitors about the old Hollywood.
The Sentinel (1977), directed by Michael Winner, is a horror movie witrh a great cast : Cristina Raines, Ava Gardner, Chris Sarandon, Burgess Meredith, Sylvia Miles, José Ferrer, Arthur Kennedy, John Carradine, Christopher Walken, Eli Wallach, Jerry Orbach, Jeff Goldblum, Beverly D'Angelo, Martin Balsam, William Hickey, and Tom Berenger. I do believe Mr. Caradine has a good part in this.
The Boogeyman(1980), directed by Ulli Lommel, was another good horror movie with John Carradine.
The Scarecrow (1982), directed by Sam Pillsbury, was a decent horror film from New Zealand, with a chilling part from John Carradine.
House of the Long Shadows (1983), directed by Pete Walker, was a horror film notable for its historic teaming of four all-time horror masters (Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and John Carradine). Also starring : Richard Todd, Desi Arnaz Jr., Julie Peasgood and British horror queen Sheila Keith.
Monster in the Closet (1986), directed by Bob Dahlin, a perceptive and funny homage to 1950s sci-fi flicks. Clark Kent-type reporter Donald Grant and scientist Denise DuBarry team up to track down and destroy California monsters who pop out of closets and kill people. A must for buffs. Shamefully only a very small part for John carradine, with a greater part for character actor Henry Gibson.
This was the 1970s and 1980s movies I could remember at the moment, but I'll be back with more.
