John Carradine(born Richmond Reed Carradine 1906-1988)first married Ardanelle McCool Cosner(1905-1989),who already had one son before she married John(from 1935-1944).This is Bruce Carradine(born 1933),who became an actor but has fewer credits than any of the other Carradine sons.Three of his credits are the film "Q" and two episodes of KUNG FU,all with stepbrother David.John's first child was David(born John Arthur Carradine 1936-2009),the only offspring from his first marriage(Ardanelle later remarried).John's second wife was actress Sonia Sorel(1921-2004),who gave birth to three sons with John(from 1944-1957).Christopher Carradine(born 1947)is an architect,the only son who didn't become an actor.Ian Keith Carradine(born 1949)was undoubtedly named after actor Ian Keith,who was a fine actor known to chew the scenery in much the same manner as John Carradine.Robert Reed Carradine(born 1954)was John's last natural son.Sonia divorced John and married Michael Bowen,giving birth to another son named for his father,Michael Bowen(born November 1957).John married a third wife,Doris Rich(1919-1971),who had one son from a previous marriage,adopted by John,Michael Rich.They were married 1957-1971,the year she died in a fire.John married for a fourth and last time in 1975,to Emily Cisneros(born 1925),adopting all four of her sons(they never divorced,but appear to have been separated at the time of his death).The total is 4 natural sons and 6 stepsons,not including Michael Bowen.David married 5 times and had 2 daughters (Calista in 1962,Kansas in 1978)and one son(Tom in 1972,whose mother is Barbara Hershey).Keith is married to his second wife,and has one daughter,Martha Plimpton(born 1970,whose mother is actress Shelley Plimpton).Robert did not marry until 1990,but has one daughter from a previous relationship,Ever(born 1974).
