I must agree with GladToKnowU. What happened to the Albert Brooks genius? Real Life, Modern Romance, Lost in America, Defending Your Life..... and that was about it. Everything since then has been a colossal disappointment. The slide is embarrassingly evident, beginning with Mother, to the Muse, to the Muslim. Where's the fire? Where's the satire? I keep praying there's another masterpiece in AB, but he seems to have taken the Woody Allen route.

Since he is a writer and the writers are on strike... does this mean he is on strike?

I too am awaiting another Defending Your Life movie.

a bit of an exaggeration IMHO

defending is amazing. one of the best comedies. everyone i know who has seen it... absolutely loves it.
mother is a great little movie.
muse is OK but forgettable i think... mostly because i've forgotten about it.
muslim is a miss. but when creatig something... misses do happen.

however to write we've lost him since 1985 is a slight overreaction i think

and ben stiller is the new albert brooks? (shivers... you really scared me with that one) how? the only thing he's written/directed is zoolander 7 years ago. all the other parts he plays are fun but the same guy. brooks plays the same persona but thank god he doesn't do it as often as stiller otherwise i'd be sick of him too. at least with brooks we wait for and anticipate his next project. ben stiller can be fun but sometimes it's like he makes the same movie over and over again.

I hope his next project is a collaberation with Dr. Kevorkian.
