I think that you're being harsh. We don't know exactly what happened between him and Diane Lane. She did not press charges and stayed married to him for years after. That is their business.
He is sober. Even if this (and I suspect it was) was the thing that ended his marriage he has clearly tried to make amends. He knows he made an ass of himself and hurt those close to him. All addicts/alcoholics do.
Remember those terrible videos from a few years ago? How badly he would talk to or treat people while drunk? Drying out has done wonders for him.
Can you honestly imagine him being a douche now for no reason? From all of the interviews I have seen he is very considerate and has seemed to started a new chapter of his life.
