I can't believe how so many people on this message board keep putting Lorraine down because of how she talks, or because of other things. Must be so nice to be SO "perfect", that you folks can come here and insult her because she is different from you.


I'll admit, that I have noticed that she speaks more slowly than most people and wondered about it too. The thought has occurred to me that she is a "bad" actress.

But I have seen her in a couple of interviews, where she wasn't acting, and she speaks the exact same way. I now wonder if perhaps she might have something along the lines of a bit of mild retardation, or mild down syndrome or something similar, perhaps even a birth defect or medical issue. In other words, most likely her brain is just wired differently.

If a person has a lisp, they just can't stop lisping for an acting role, you know...

Now when I see her in "Goodfellas", "Medicine Man", and "Radio Flyer", I keep this in mind, and now I see that she is a very good actress. Perhaps not one of the greats, but good.


Half a century ago, people used to put the mentally challenged and the handicapped into "institutions" to hide them away from the world because they didn't understand them and were ashamed to be seen with them. It's quite sickening that people today, still have similar contemptible beliefs.
