If you care to read the series of posts Under the " Lisa ruined a promising career" you can get a much more detailed explanation but the short of it is.

She made a choice to star in Angel heart which Cosby disapproved of because of the graphic subject matter. And since her Cosby show image was suppose to be wholesome she was removed from the show after doing the the movie.

This is not true....

Lisa came back to The Cosby Show to help his senile arse with ratings after doing the movie Angel Heart...

Debbie Allen told Oprah Winfrey that she fired Lisa from A Different World because she didn't like Lisa's morale.

The last straw came when Lisa didn't want to take off her wedding ring because it reflected light from the camera.

I know she was kicked off A Different World but being kicked off The Cosby Show isn't true...

she was kicked off the cosby show and a different world. they took her back in the cosby show, but then kicked her off again later on.

She left season 1 in A Different World because she was pregnant, so they said that Denise went to Africa for about a year, and she came back in The Cosby Show ( where they did a horrible job in writing her into the show ) and I guess that when she went back to college, she didn't star in both The Cosby Show and A Different World. But then she starred in the movie, which got her fired from The Cosby Show, and she also didn't go back into A Different World either. ( What they did instead with Denise was another mistake. ) And she doesn't do anything with The Cosby Show cast today either.

She didn't get kicked off the show for doing Angel Heart.....

She stated in a 1987 Interview Magazine that Cosby
was okay with it so I don't think doing Angel Heart
was the reason.
