What a resume!
Most actors would kill for a list of credits like Ward Bond. Granted, many of his roles were small, but the list of classics in which he appeared is massive and includes some of the best-loved films of the 1930s-50s - from Gone with the Wind to It's a Wonderful Life, The Maltese Falcon to Rio Bravo, It Happened One Night, Bringing Up Baby, The Searchers... etc etc
He was a fine character actor and always a welcome presence but rarely had a role of much substance. He should have been Oscar nominated, however, for his fine performance as world heavyweight champion John L. Sullivan in Gentleman Jim.
