Thanks for the post!
Evidently, it is becoming more apparent that this "mystery project" is based on the 1990 Thomas Pynchon novel "Vineland," which is set in a Northern California coastal community not unlike Eureka, California where Leo enacted this scene.
Evidently big crowds gathered to watch Leo act - but were silent and respectful. It is always interesting when a "really big star"(which Leo is) deigns to "play their trade" (act) in front of strangers from the public.
His hippie look is right on.
And they finished filming in Eureka after 11 days. Back to the soundstages?
That seems like a quick shoot. I'm interested what kind of movie it's going to turn out for $100m.
shareTrue. Well, Leo and PTA, plus Sean Penn and Regina Hall, Alana Haim and the other actors, probably take up about 40% of that (Leo mainly.)
Its hard to make cheap movies when even one superstar signs on.

Well we got our answer on the cost: they moved from the small coastal town of Eureka , California to do some days of shooting in the big city of Sacramento, California -- the state capitol -- in February. They are about to film a car and helicopter chase and shootout on the streets of Sacramento. PTA says this "should be his most commerical film ever." Reportedly based on Thomas Pynchon's novel "Vineland."
This is filming in downtown Sacramento near where I work at the Sacramento Admin building, the county courthouse & the surrounding area.
