So happy Casey got the Oscar.
New board, new post. I'm so happy. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford was the first proper arthouse (I guess?) film I remember seeing in the cinema. I'll never forget the impact of that film: the atmosphere, the characterisation and Casey's performance in it upon me in that first viewing: in the cinema with my Mum.
The subsequent Oscars were the first time I really cared who won... even though I knew it was very unlikely, I hoped so much for Casey then.
Pretty much a decade on and I have hoped for this for so long. I could not have imagined it even a year ago and I think it is a lovely thing for all great actors for this style of performance (rather than something big and over the top) to be rewarded. Something so true and raw. Just wanted to share my happiness here. :)
